Metabolic syndrome and famine response are hot topics.  If you are trying to loose weight and do not address your metabolism, the weight may come off, but it will likely come right back on. Eating more healthy unprocessed foods and doing less cardiovascular exercise and more resistance training are essential for creating a healthy metabolism.

Here are a few tips to help turn your metabolism around.

  • Eat breakfast within an hour of waking in the morning
  • Exercise first thing in the morning, often if you wait until the afternoon, it just doesn’t happen
  • Combine protein with carbohydrates at every meal
  • Eat healthy fats like olive oil, avocado,  & almond butter
  • Drink 4 quarts of water every day
  • Eat every 2 ½ to 3 hours
  • Make dinner your smallest meal
  • Plan ahead: Cook extra at dinner so you will have lunch the next day
  • Minimize processed carbohydrates, refined sugars, artificial sweeteners, and alcohol
  • Read ingredient labels
  • Add resistance training to your exercise routine & limit cardio to 30-40 minutes 3 times per week
  • Remember: No amount of exercise will make up for poor eating habits
