Why buy organic food?

Organic farming does not use environmentally harmful chemicals in production of its food and therefore the groundwater and rainwater are not contaminated. Organic products offer an alternative for consumers who are looking to protect the well-being of the environment, their families, and themselves.

Organic Produce:

The Flathead Valley has a wonderful group of organic vegetable farms and a few of them offer a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture). As a member of a CSA, you buy shares of the weekly harvest before the crops are even planted. No need to go to the store, simply stop by the farm and pick up your weekly allotment of vegetables. Another important part of being a member of a CSA, is having the opportunity to take your family out to the farm and volunteer hours playing in the dirt. If you are not able to become a CSA member, how about stopping by one of the many farmers markets and buying directly from the farmers and receiving vegetables that were hand picked that very morning. What a great opportunity we have in this valley.

Organic Meats:

Organic poultry and beef farmers do not use synthetic growth hormones or routine antibiotics. Their animals are raised in natural living conditions that are appropriate for the species. These animals are fed only organic feed, or are grass fed. A few of the CSA’s in the valley are teaming up with poultry and beef farmers, so that when you stop by to pick up your veggies, you can also pick up the meat, eggs, and sometimes cheese, once again, no need to go to the supermarket.

In order to live Your Best Health, there is definitely a certain amount of commitment you need to make to yourself and your family. Our families and friends deserve to have the very best and I believe that begins with the food we eat.
